Home Technique Analysis Joint Locking Throws Grip Fighting

A takedown technique differs to a generic throwing technique used in judo. They are Jujitsu methods using the structural levers of the joints to create the off balancing to ground stabilse the opponent.
The difference between a throwing technique and a takedown is simply this:
- Throwing techniques uses the body in combination with a lever i.e. A Jujitsu joint locking throw or judo modified throw (Jujitsu joint locking techniques use levers and the body to complete the technique).
- A takedown only uses the lever of a leg or arm to off balance and ground stabilise your opponent.

Round House Takedown
Your opponent delivers a right round kick to your mid section. You counter this their technique with a cross block. The cross block will be, your left hand hooking near their calf muscle and your right hand palm / forearm blocking just above their knee on thigh, this is done at the same time as the entry. Turn clockwise craddling the oppoents right leg to lever them to the ground.
Technique options may be a rear ankle lock, rear knee entanglement or a pinning technique etc.

Bicep Cruch Takedown
You are positioned within a left stance, your opponent takes hold with their right hand to your right lapel on your jacket (or one hand choke or push). You move forward placing your rigth wrist into the bend of your oppoent's right elbow as you drop suddenly, creating the opponent to ground stabilise quickly.
Technique options may be a pinning technique, a croos arm lock, continued bicep press etc.

Sitting Knee Turn
With your opponent before you, you shot in with a cross block action towards the opponents right knee. After you have blocked their leg at the knee, hook with your right arm around the opponent's knee. at the same time sit closely as if your executing a standard side drop throw (leg placement). As you hook and sit you turn anti-clockwise creating the opponents leg to buckle and end up onto their bottom.
Technique options may be a knee entanglement, ankle entanglement, ankle lock, side four quarters hold or another pinning technique or submission etc.

Pushing Hip Take Down
Entering with a left stnace to your opponent, off balance him or her with your left forearm to their right hip (at the joint), with your right hand reach through their legs and take hold of the opponents right ankle. With a Ho (garden tool) motion ground stabilise your opponent.
Technique options may be a ankle lock, ankle entanglement, knee ride or knee bar etc.
