Namba Ippo Ryu Koshi no Mawari was founded in or just before the Genna years 1615 – 23 by Nanba Ipposai Hisanaga. Hisanaga was from Chosui, and studied with one of the Takenouchi Ryu branch schools before formulating his own system, which was taught in the Hiroshima domain. One famous student of Namba Ippo Ryu was Takeda Motsugai the founder of Fusen Ryu.
